Numbers in Nature
Age appropriate exploration of the natural world through the lens of numbers. Counting, geometry, shapes and some art thrown in for good measure. Guided by Caleb & Isabel More Than S'Mores: Outdoor Cooking
What could be better than making your own meal over a fire? Learning how to cook outdoors equips kids with confidence and self-sufficiency, and it fosters creativity as they develop their own recipes and enjoy their experiments. This course will integrate bushcraft skills with concepts of math, science, social studies, and literacy. We will cover key techniques of outdoor cooking: lighting a fire, cooking in ashes and leaves, steaming over an open fire, and more. Through activities in the outdoor kitchen, kids will learn basic math computations, fractions, and measurement, as well as chemical and physical changes, observation, and data collection. We will explore food from around the world and read about cooking techniques used by a variety of cultures. Each child will be able to delve deeper into his or her own interests and skills by researching a particular ingredient, regional cuisine, cooking technique, or recipe. It's sure to be a delicious adventure! Lead by Caleb |
