Revised Covid Policy- Summer 2022

At Four Winds Learning Community, we prioritize health and safety above all. Below you will find our Pandemic  policy and procedures, which follow state and local guidelines regarding COVID-19 and the well-being of our community.

1.     Masks must be worn properly (covering mouth and nose) when inside our classroom space by staff, students and families on site. Masks may be removed for eating, only when everyone is seated with at least six feet of distance between them and proper hand-washing has been done. The CDC recommends wearing a mask with at least two layers of material in order to be effective. We remind the children to take regular masks breaks and allow them to do so whenever they feel it necessary.
2.     If a student or anyone in their family/household is showing leading symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that they stay home until they can show proof of a negative test result or have quarantined for five days.  Leading symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell, cough and sore throat.
3.     If a student or anyone in their family/household has come into contact with anyone who has tested positive for the virus, we ask that they provide a negative test or have quarantined for five days and be symptom free, before their return to Four Winds.
4.     If anyone in our community (teachers and students) has symptoms we ask that they test and remain at home until they are symptom free or have a negative test result .
5.     If you are traveling, we ask that you provide a negative test result or quarantine for five days after travel before returning to Four Winds.
We respectfully ask that everyone in our community follows these policies to better ensure the health and safety of all. Thank you! If you would like further information please visit the CDC website

Revised Covid Policy- Summer 2021

Revised Covid Policy - Winter 2021

In accordance with MA law and following the other educational institutions in our district our face covering policy at Four Winds has changed. This is based on guidance from the CDC, from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).

The policy updates indicate that children do not need to wear masks when they are outdoors. Your children may continue to wear a mask at all times if this makes them or you more comfortable.

This means that face coverings will not be required for children during:
  •     recess, or other outdoor activities;
  •     outdoor wellness/physical education classes;
  •     youth sports
  •     times when classes are held outdoors.

Masks will be used when we are inside our greenhouse classroom.
Please note that we will continue to require six feet of distance between children when eating, unless the children are in the same family. And, we will maintain all of our social distancing practices as currently implemented -- there are no changes today in that regard.

Additionally, adults will not be required to wear masks when outdoors if appropriate social distancing is maintained.

We ask you to remember and review the following with your child:
  •     The appropriate distancing between children should be maintained whenever possible.
  •  For now, we ask children to refrain from hugs, handshakes, high fives, or other activities that require physical contact.
  •   If parents or family members are helping children at pick-up or drop-off and are in our greenhouse classroom, we request that you please wear a mask.
Thank you for your continued awareness of the health and well being of our whole community.

    •    Families are asked to maintain a distance of 6 ft between other families  during drop-off and group activities.  We will be keeping our group sizes small ( 10/per mentor group). During our first week, Orientation, we will create games that help us learn to respect each other's space.
    •    No food or drinks will be provided.  Children should bring their own water bottles,  snacks and lunches.
    •    All shared facilities will be sanitized regularly: i.e. bathrooms cleaned after each use.
    •    Each child should have their own hand sanitizer. We will have hand sanitizer in case a child does not have their own.
    •    We have the right to deny any child entrance into our program site if they show symptoms of illness or have been exposed to someone showing symptoms.
    •    Children must be monitored for any sort of illness for two weeks prior to the time they attend FWLC, as well as the duration of their time attending our program.
    •    If children or family members show signs of or come in contact with someone with COVID-19, notify WindRose Morris-Keating immediately by calling 413.329.5970.  We will maintain strong communication with each family. We will keep your health information confidential, but in the case that someone is sick, we will need to inform all other families. Names of sick children or families will be kept confidential.
In the event that our learning community is directly affected by Covid-19, we will request that families get tested and we will suspend our courses until we have the test results back.
